FIRESTONE MERLOT – 2013
The fruit for this Merlot comes from several vineyard blocks on our estate, each with a unique soil structure, trellising style and microclimate. It is this diversity that allows us to create an exceptional final wine. Captivating aromas and flavors of black cherries, violets, sweet oak, cola and vanilla are complemented by soft tannins in this full-bodied Merlot.
Blend: 84% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon

Wine Review: This bright red colored Rhone styled red blend opens with a blueberry and cherry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced and easy to drink. The flavor profile is a tasty blend of gentle red plum with notes of dried cherry. I also detected some faint hints of strawberry and oak in the background. The finish is dry and its moderate tannins show nice length. This wine is food friendly and would pair nicely with a pork tenderloin with sage. Enjoy – Ken
Winemaker Notes: Our 2013 Three Sisters Red is a compelling blend of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. While these three varietals are related by lineage, they each possess a distinct personality adding intrigue to the composition. The nose opens with bright Grenache driven notes of concentrated raspberry jam. As you continue to inhale, the Mourvedre component delivers secondary notes of spice and hints of wet earth. The dominant Syrah portion brings flavors of ripe plum and structured depth to the mid-palate. This wine has a playful mid-weight viscosity which makes it at ease with or without food.

WINE TASTING: This event sells out and unfortunately we have to turn away a few at the door. Always remember to get those tickets early. The cost was $35 per person and included 10 different wine samplings. The paired food for each wine was impressive. Rare cheeses, skewers, fresh fruit, fine chocolates were on the menu and complimented each wine that was presented. Good conversations and wonderful people filled the room. Thanks Denis
